Training Fins

The regular scuba/snorkling fin can make you go very fast indeed but like the pull buoy, they can be addictive. Fins are great for developing leg/ankle strength and flexibility. They can also assist in stroke technique since your stroke cycle slows down sufficiently for you to be able to think about your technique. In recent years however, they have been replaced by a new generation of training fins which have a smaller webbed foot thus allowing a faster kicking action.

The most popular are the training fins called Zoomers. They are available in sizes corresponding to a range of feet sizes and their colour indicates usage. Red zoomers have a stiffer fin and are suited for sprint distances whilst the Blue Zoomers are for fitness and distance swimmers. Many swimmers now swear by them - have you got yours yet?
