At first glance, this aid may not appear significant since we all wear swim suits (is there anyone out there that doesn't?). As Masters are secure about their masculinity/feminity, we should be on the cutting edge of this one.
It seems that researchers at Ball State University in Indiana concluded that men would benefit if they switched to wearing a swim suit similar to a womens one-piece. Their study compared experienced swimmers wearing a standard vs.torso suit made of 80/20 polyester/polyurethane.
The torso suit made a significant difference for distance events by shaving off around ONE second for every 100M. It would look quite a sight if we could also get that matching pair of psychedelic goggles and cap for a debut at the next World Masters Games.....
