Food 4 Thought

Swimming events are won by hundreds of a second; a golf tournament is decided by a difference of just 1 stroke after 72 holes; a basketball championship is determined by 2 points. In life, as in sports, success is not achieved by making huge strides but by making small incremental gains, sustained over a period of time. If you study the most successful people in any walk of life, you will generally find that their success was the result, not of luck, but of their willingness to 'go that extra mile.'

Individuals who are on a program to lose weight do not succeed by shedding 10 pounds overnight. They achieve their goal weight by systematically following a program designed to drop 1 or 2 pounds a week. This results in long term success.

People who have succeeded in the entertainment field have done so by following their dream with undying commitment. Take Sylvester Stallone - many do not know that he was turned down many times by agents when he was trying to produce Rocky. He even reached a point where he had little or no money left but he never quit. Just like he portrayed in his Rocky movies, he would not give up.

Society is sold the idea of the "quick fix", the "magic bullet", the "overnight success" and "instant gratification". Unfortunately, these ideas don't work.

To truly succeed, you must be willing to do whatever it takes, develop a commitment to "stretch" yourself and to take small actions on a regular basis. This strategy means making small daily improvements in every area of your daily life which includes your work, family, health, finances and relationships.

When you incorporate it into your life, you must be willing to "swim that extra distance", write just one more letter, 'go the extra mile'. When you feel down and want to quit, remember Rocky and his undying commitment to give it all he had.

By adopting the principle for making small daily improvements you will benefit more than you could ever imagine in a very short time since the small daily improvements will gain a momentum of their own and over time will produce major results.
